Blocking Your Time

Waste Management for Your Everyday

Ever have one of those days? You look at the clock. It's 5:00 p.m., and you feel like you have nothing to show for the eight hours you just worked. You think back and realize all you did was react to everything that came at you: emails, voicemails, drop ins, even that really long conversation you ended up having with a client who called you out of the blue. That conversation that really should have been held in a more professional setting, in your office, rather than in your car, in the drive-thru (thank goodness clients can't see - or smell French fries - through cell phones). Well, being more proactive by blocking your priorities into time slots is a good way to gain some control over you work life every day.

In terms of everyday tasks that can lead us off course, emails, voicemails, and phone calls are probably the worst offenders for small business owners. If you allow it, you will easily find yourself reacting to new tasks or fixing new problems any time you allow yourself to be continuously distracted by these always-open lines of communication. Instead, make the decision to handle these items, as much as possible, during defined blocks of time each day. This will give you more control over your work hours and put you back in charge of your productivity - especially in terms of your business's top priorities.

Online Banking

One Step or Two?

Online banking isn't out to change your money habits. Instead, it uses today's computer technology to give you the option of bypassing the time-consuming, paper-based aspects of traditional banking in order to manage your finances more quickly and efficiently. Taking advantage of online accounting services
can help you cut down on the paper, free up space on your computer for other business needs and give you 24/7 access to your numbers.

Many of our clients use Online Banking for their businesses, and are happy with the gained efficiency that their bank provides. They simply log into their bank's website to pay their bills or make a transfer, and their bank mails payments on their behalf. Then they enter the payment into their accounting system to show the bill is paid or the money is transferred.
Can it get any easier?!? YES!!!

Taming Desktop Chaos

Can you see the surface of your desk?  Or do you have piles of "who knows what" precariously perched everywhere?  If so, it is time to get organized!! Let's take a look at how much paper you have in your office.
This is where a lot of the chaos occurs.

Cyber-Quick Tip

Back-to-School Tips for Parents

It's back to school time.  Time for all you parents to switch gears from swimming lesson carpools and day camp schedules to soccer practice carpools and regular school schedules (not to mention supplies, new teachers, and packing young kids off to school the first time).

Being prepared can go a long way when it comes to this time of year. But if you know where to go, you can get organized for everything, from school supply lists to helping your kid apply to college. Save yourself time and confusion with list and calendar templates by taking advantage of Microsoft Office Templates. They have templates, calendars and lists from supply lists to afterschool activites to college costs calculators.
